"Kabir says, the true meaning of liberation is living in the world but not of the world. He urges us to engage in the world but with detached attitude. In a way it is the mind open to everything but attached to nothing.
He says, a truly detached person does not neglect his duties and responsibilities towards family, society but rather unconditionally loves and serves the divine in them and expands that love and service to all other beings without any sense of bondage or emotional attachment. The Living Liberated lives amidst the worldly activity, yet is detached from it just as a lotus flower is not tainted by the slimy scum it grows in."

"Kabir says, life always comes in pairs: the ups and downs of life, the strengths and weakness of life, the joys and sorrows of life. What is joy without sorrow? What is success without failure? What is a win without a loss? What is health without illness? You have to experience each if you are to appreciate the other. There is always going to be suffering. it’s how you look at your suffering, how you deal with it, that will define you. There is nothing permanent. Everything that rises must fall. As sunrise is the proof of immanent sunset or as the morning is the proof of approaching night, similarly, birth of an entity is the proof of it’s impending death. Time is the only dimension in which we all live our lives, and it affects everything that we do, from a flower's growing cycle to the destruction of empires. All things are born on time, grown on time and die on time. One needs to comprehend and regard the value of time by not wasting it. Better we not waste the precious moments of this rare human birth chasing frivolous material pursuits, for the true purpose of this rare human birth is God Realisation."

रोडा है रहा बाट का, तजि पाखंड अभिमान I
ऐसा जे जन है रहै, ताहि मिलै भगवान II

The greatest hurdle to God Realisation is one's ego. In reality, nobody cannot totally remove his/her false ego-sense. It defines our relationship with ourselves and our world, essentially providing meaning to the self to insure survival, success, protection, procreation etc. However, what we are asked by Kabir is to annihilate the negative aspect or negative impact of the BLOATED egotism, which kills our True Nature. It feels real because we attach our false ego-sense to some perceived parameters in some form, such as power, status, beauty, youth, strength, wealth, education, knowledge, possessions etc. Among all Maya's allures, false ego-sense is the worst one, so is hypocrisy.
We accuse one person of doing exactly what we are doing but believe that it is somehow “different” when that person does it. It is typically caused by an inflated sense of ego and self-righteousness, coupled with an inability to be humble.

"Kabir says, devotion and false ego-sense do not go together. The ego-mind is extrovert (sense-bent). It needs to be controlled by turning it toward the real goal of the life, God-Realisation. And this comes true when we cultivate humility, the essence of all good virtues. Humility abides in the heart of those fortunate ones who have divinized their inner-self. True humility is the recognition of one's imperfections. The true spirit of humility and surrender can put us in proper frame of mind to receive the grace and guidance of the Guru or God."

कबीर हरि सब कूँ भजै, हरि कूँ भजै न कोइ I
जब लग आस सरीर की, तब लग दास न होइ II

Spiritually speaking, devotion is one of the most sublime human expressions not easily attained. True Devotion arises in a person who is free from worldly desires and whose sole aim is liberation. A loyal devotee of God does not seek anything, other than the attention of God or oneness with Him. God Realization is a state not of desirelessness but rather of purified desires where one desires only God Realization.

"Kabir says, though Lord Hari takes care of us all the time, we seldom remind of Him. To be His true devotee, one needs to annihilate the false ego associated with "I am this body" idea, the foremost evil. If we do not mend our ways, then what gave us this present body will surely give us next one also. Therefore, the false sense of "I-am-the-body" must go.
A true devotee constantly and thoroughly trains himself for Spiritual fitness by practicing detachment from the sense objects, and removing his false ego by disconnecting mind from the senses."

अपना अपना क्या करे, मोह भरम लिपटाय II

"Kabir says, you come alone in this world, alone you depart and amidst the so called worldly relations alone you truly are. If this is true then what is this "Me, Mine" all about? It is nothing but an illusion. No worldly relation is without any self interest. Many times  we hear promises like, "I shall accompany you even after your death." However it is also true that no living accompanies the dead on the funeral pyre however loving and close the relationship may be. Under the spell of deceptive Maya (illusion), nobody does anything for anybody else's happiness. The reality of the matter is that whatever a person claims to do for the happiness of others is in fact for his own happiness. Behind every act, thought, and word there is his or her own selfishness disguised. Our false ego-sense may not admit this fact, but that does not change the truth. Whether they are mother, father, siblings, children, spouse, friends, all are concerned only with their own happiness. All say, "Mine, Mine", and attach their consciousness to you with love. But at the very last moment, none will go along with you. How strange are the ways of the world! Thus, the worldly love (Moha or emotional attachment) is none other than a naked show of selfishness. This is the unshakable truth. We generally love each other out of mere selfish desires and related fears. We have no true relations because our relatives also love us to fulfill their own needs."

जब मन लागा लोभ से, गया विषय में भोय I
कहैं कबीर विचारि के, केहि प्रकार धन होय II

Greed is that Black Hole which never gets filled. Eventually, the greedy person gets swallowed by this Black Hole.
Greed is a characteristic that cuts across most human endeavours and goes back as long as our species has been on earth.
Overly self-centered behaviour becomes the first give-away of greedy people. Greedy people are always saying “me, me, me” with very little regard for the needs and feelings of others.
Envy and greed are like twins. While greed is a strong desire for more and more possessions (such as wealth and power), envy goes one step further and includes a strong desire by greedy people for the possessions of others.
Greedy people lack empathy. Caring—being concerned about the feelings of others—is not part of their repertoire. As such, they have little qualms about causing pain to others. Their inability to empathise, their lack of genuine interest in the ideas and feelings of others, and their unwillingness to take personal responsibility for their behaviour and actions makes them very difficult people to be with.
They are never satisfied.  Greedy people look at the world as a zero-sum game. Instead of thinking that everyone would benefit as the pie gets larger, they view the pie as a constant and want to have the biggest part. They truly believe that they deserve more, even if it comes at someone else’s expense.
Greedy people are experts in manipulation. They are highly talented in taking credit for work done by others. They can be charming, but their principal agenda is to have people around them that feed their ego.
In the pursuit of their material needs, they know no limits. Greedy people are not good at maintaining boundaries. They will compromise moral values and ethics to achieve their goals. They look for loopholes or clever ways to outsmart the rules and regulations that have been put into place to moderate this kind of behaviour.

"Kabir says, Greed is the intense desire to possess material items like money, goods, gadgets, properties, cars, jewellery, etc to an extent that is far beyond ones real needs and requirements. A person subject to greed is the result of a foolish and feeble mind; is happy just thinking about his or her wealth; will continuously be occupied in this desire to possess material items. A strong and uncontrollable desire for worldly goods and a constant or recurring focus on possessing material items, especially the urge to possess the things that rightfully belongs to others. It makes an individual selfish and self-centred. It takes a person away from peace; from his or her religious, moral and social duties. A person can become blind with greed if an effort to control the desire for unlimited worldly possessions is not extinguished."

मोर तोर की जेवरी, गल बंधा संसार I
दास कबीर क्यों बंधै, जाके नाम आधार II

The Mayaic illusion of separateness that holds the whole world in bondage gives rise to emotional attachment and creates duality of "Me, Mine, You & Yours" where there is none. For the wave to think it is separate from the ocean is it's ignorance. Also for the ornament and pot to think they are separate from their respective source gold and clay is their mistake. In reality the wave and ocean are the same water. Gold ornament is no different than gold and clay pot is but clay. There is no difference although they appear to be different. The difference is created by name and form only. In the same way when the false "I" identifies with the body, it sees the objective world of names and forms and mistakenly takes itself to be separate from the Homogeneous Oneness, the very essence of the world entire. But in reality there is "no-two."

"Kabir says, for the Awakened Soul whose individuality is roasted in the fire of Spiritual Wisdom, there is no false sense of individuality left and hence there is no feeling of separation."

Man engages in the world of gross objects with his sensory faculties and the pleasures they afford only make him desire for more and more. But the senses are not so easily tamed, controlled or conquered. Like moth to flame describes inescapably allured by something harmful yet very enticing. It's like mind addicted to sensual pleasures comes back to it again and again. What one lusts for can be poison to him yet he still craves it.

"Kabir says, lascivious person is like moth. Just like moth is irresistibly attracted to the bright light of the flame, jumps into it and gets perished, once lasciviousness takes hold of person's mind, he cannot control his senses. It's not that he doesn't know the consequences yet he cannot resist the temptation. He goes for it and becomes the cause of his own annihilation."

Instigated by his inner enemies (lust, anger, greed, attachment, self-conceit, stubborn mindedness, and enviousness), he forms alliances with friends, children, siblings, relatives, chiefs, leaders, groups, organizations, and so on. All these alliances, factions, or conflicts are false because all of them are mere extensions of the love of Maya, falsehood or selfishness.

Aeons have passed in telling beads, yet our minds changed not; So cast off the wooden beads and take to the mental ones. If we were to make a bead of the mind, an inward light would dawn again. The telling of beads on the rosary gives just a mental satisfaction, but leads nowhere. If you were to turn the beads of the mind you would witness God's light within. True rosary lies in the mind, the rest is all sham and a worldly show. In vain is the rosary that loosens not the mind knot. Most people associate the experience of "love" with the euphoric emotion of falling in love, or the physical sensation of sexual intimacy. But there is so much more to love than this. There are depths of love that relatively few ever travel to. But to experience this kind of love means letting go of old preconceptions and beliefs. It means moving in a new direction, a new way of being. Beyond this temporal world lies a dimension that can only be encountered by our spirit. Not the intellect of the mind. Not the emotions of the soul. But our spirit alone can reach out and become one with this love. It's God, the author of love. This is where the deepest, most intimate levels of love are found. And it's what our hearts have always longed for. Everything else is just a brief visit. God's love is home.

"Kabir says, money can buy material riches but not love. The only way love can last a lifetime is if its unconditional. You can't buy love, because when it is real it is priceless. All love comes back to you. It's all giving and taking. If you give love freely, it gets returned to you. True love accepts you unconditionally but also lights the path for you to become best version of yourself. Love doesn't need to be perfect, it needs to be True."

God dwells deep within each and every heart. This may lead to the question: "if that's the case, then why He is not seen or experienced by the majority of us ?"It's because the mind of majority of us is not inside. It's extroverted: unceasingly wandering outside. We unavailingly look for God in external images, pictures, religious books, tangible and physical things, habitual reading or hearing of the scriptures, music and so on. The truth is however very subtle, pure and sublime: hence it cannot be caught by such mental circus of ours. Only those rare ones who have attained God Realisation can catch God inside. For the rest of us,although God is said to be inside He remains aloof.

"Kabir says, just like pupil in the eye sees the world around but cannot know how it looks, ignorance makes the person unaware of the essence of the absolute reality ever present within his own body just like the deer is unaware of the presence of musk within his body. He keeps on searching for it outside but in vain."

All our endeavors are to give comfort to our body  with which we identify ourselves. Yet the time eats it away, slowly and steadily, bit by bit. Ultimately it dissolves into the very elements from which it had come. As sunrise is the proof of immanent sunset or as the morning is the proof of approaching night, similarly birth of an entity is a proof of its impending death. All human beings, rules and the rulers, the poor and the wealthy, the temporal and the religious - are merely awaiting their turn. We are all in the line. None can set out of the queue.

Kabir says, human body is the bejewelled temple made of laquer. Laquer being highly inflammable when catches fire is consumed by it all. As for man, his days are like grass. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, and it's place acknowledges it no longer."

There is a story that describes the importance of Sadh-Sangat. Once upon a time, an argument took place between the Sages Vasisht and Vishwamitra regarding what is superior, Sadh-Sangat or undertaking penance? Sage Vasisht said, “Sadh-Sangat is superior” whereas Sage Vishwamitra said, “Penance is superior”. To find a solution to this argument, both of them went to the Devas. The Devas told them that only Sheshnag can find an answer to their problem! So, they approached Sheshnag.
Sheshnag told them, “If you could reduce the weight of earth on my head, I could think about your question and answer it.” In the puranas, it is mentioned that it is Sheshnag that balances the earth on its head. To reduce the weight of earth, Sage Vishwamitra took a resolve, “I offer the fruits of 1000 years of my penance, Mother Earth may rise slightly above the head of Sheshnag”. Mother Earth did not budge even a little. Then Sage Vasisht took a resolve, “I offer the fruits of half a ghataka (12 minutes) of my Sadh-Sangat, Mother Earth may reduce her weight a little”. Mother Earth immediately lifted herself up. We come to know how important Sadh-Sangat is from this story.

"Kabir says, where do we try to seek God, the fountainhead of the soul and source of all energy? We seek Him in the stone mosques and earthen temples which we build with our own hands. How absurd it is that instead of searching for God in the temple that He himself made for His residence in this world, we try to find Him in the houses which we build with bricks and stones. The human body is the temple of God, and He dwells within it, not at Mathura, Dwarika, Jagannath. It is the Sadh-Sangat that makes us realise this. God Realisation that slowly unfolds with Sadh-Sangat is different from mere parroting. It is a journey within with the sole purpose of cleansing the filth within that is in itself no different than Hari Bhajan. We are influenced by the environment in which we live and the people with whom we consistently interact. Just like lowly trees in the vicinity of Sandalwood become fragrant, Hari Bhajan emanates from within in the company of Realised Soul who remains absorbed in it ceaselessly. One cannot remain untouched of the waves and waves of divine ecstasy that ripple from a Realised Soul attuned with the Supreme Essence. Everyone in his company becomes intoxicated with divine love and dances in the divine ecstasy."
