कामी लज्जा न करै, मन मांही अहलाद I

"Kabir says, one who is blinded by lust has no shame. A sleepy person needs no bedding. A hungry belly knows no taste. In other words when the need demands, man knows how to adjust with the circumstances."

"Kabir says, just like fish stinks despite remaining underwater all the time, the inner filth remains untouched by bathing in water."

आए है सो जायेंगे, राजा रंक फकीर I
एक सिंहासन चढि चले, एक बांधि जंजीर II

"Kabir says, where there is life, death is inevitable. Death spares none. Not a King, pauper or an ascetic. What matters is how we live life. While Good Karma bestows glory making one remembered fondly even after his death, curse accompanies Bad Karma. The evil we do remains with us. The good we do comes back to us.
So in the end everything revolves around our Karma. The choice is ours."

निंद निशानी मौत की, उठो कबीरा जाग I
और रसायन छोड के, नाम रसायन लाग II

"Kabir says, sleep is half death. In other words, of the 24 hours, the effective time available for the Name Worship of Lord Hari is already less due to the sleeping time.
And therefore hurry up he says, for we are running short of time."

माया मरी न मन मरा, मर मर गये शरीर I

"Kabir says, the body withers with time but the yearnings of the mind never die. A tooth-less man craves to eat but is unable to chew. Seeking absolute Desire-less-ness is equivalent to attaining the True Wisdom."

कबीर चंदन पर जला, तीतर बैठा माहिं I

"Kabir says, a bird perched on a Sandalwood tree while it was on fire. The tree couldn't keep quiet, said, we are getting burnt because we are wing-less. Why are you inviting trouble when you have the means to fly off to a safe place and save yourself?
There are people in this world who suffer despite having means to avert it. The true purpose of this rare human birth is GOD Realisation. But if we waste it on frivolous material pursuits then the sufferings are inevitable and endless."

माला फेरत युग गया, मिटा न मन का फेर I
कर का मनका डारि दे, मन का मनका फेर II

"Kabir says, despite sliding the prayer beads for a long time, the attachment to the worldly desires has not ceased.  
And therefore leave the prayer beads and instead practice good thinking, for we become what we think about. 

Practicing prayer beads is of no use if the mind is filthy.

कबीर संगति साधू की, जो करि जाने कोय I
सकल विरछ चंदन भये, बांस न चंदन होय II

"Kabir says, those who stay in the company of righteous and saintly beings get positively influenced by their noble virtues just like the lowly trees in the vicinity of Sandalwood become fragrant. 
However those with excessive pride remain unaffected by the company of Wise, for they are like Bamboo tree, hard from outside but hollow from inside."

बिन सतगुरू बाचै नही, फिर बुडै भव माँहि I

"Kabir says, the guidance of the Spiritual Master is the only recourse for the liberation from the mundane existence. And therefore one must not let go of his hand."

"Kabeer says, our body is but a temple made of lacquer(wax) with its beauty resplendent like a jewel. Just like nothing lasts forever, beauty fades over time."

कहता हूं कहि जात हूं, कहूं बजाये ढोल I

"Kabir says, it's high time we realise the preciousness of every breath that we take of this rare human birth. And therefore let our every breath count for the Name Worship of Lord, for our time is running out fast. Our every breath is unique, once over is over. There is no replay. And therefore let's wake up from the slumber of ignorance and do the Name Worship of Lord as much as possible while there is still time."

"Kabir says, just like the heron bird who imitates the stride of swan cannot pluck the pearls, the Liberation from mundane existence remains beyond reach for those who pretend to have  understood the true purpose of this rare human birth."

"Kabir says, no matter how much wealth we may accumulate, in the end it is of no use, for we come in this world empty handed and depart no different. The hoarded wealth of a miser becomes useless to him when thieves steal it."

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, the Wise have propounded since time immemorial that he who has control over his tongue has won the universe. The wild tongue brings countless failings of body and mind."

यह तन कांचा कुंभ है, लिया फिरै थे साथ I

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, our body with which we identify ourself and of which we are very proud and possessive is but a pot of clay that shatters to pieces when the death stone strikes it. And therefore we must not give too much importance to "I am this body" idea, for it betrays man in the end."

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, be mindful when it comes to your words, for words have power to both destroy and heal. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble."

जो जल बाढे नाव में, घर में बाढे दाम I

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, when water fills up in a boat, a man in the boat throws out as much water as he can with both hands. But he does this to save his own life.
Truly Wise is however the one who donates his wealth for charity unconditionally."

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, you celebrated the birth of your son by playing cymbals. But there is nothing to be overjoyed about it because since time immemorial the coming and going is going on in this world like a long line of ants."

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, falsehood spreads like wildfire and has long lasting pick up than the truth. The world we live in is like a hyper reacting wild stray dog who bites for no reason. Just like this dog doesn't think before biting, people accept the falsehood at its face value rather than verifying it's trueness."

राजपाट धन पायके, क्यों करता अभिमान I

"The lowly trees in the vicinity of Sandalwood emanate fragrance"
In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, everything is infectious in this world, good or bad. And therefore we must always seek company of virtuous, for not only it elevates but also helps in getting rid of our failings."

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, just like tree never eats it's own fruits, river never drinks it's own water, the life of the Saintly Beings is dedicated to only the betterment of humanity, to make people aware of the true purpose of this rare human birth, GOD Realisation."

झुठा सब संसार है, कोऊ न अपना मीत I

"In this composition Sant Kabirdasji says, although we cannot ignore the physical reality of the world, nothing in it can be called real because it is subject to change every moment, like our mind. An illusion the world is because what we deem it to be, it is not like that. We say, "these are my people", when in reality all attachments are but the temporary associations. Nothing is permanent. 
Only he who acknowledges the importance of the Eternal Truth "Ram Nam" conquers the attachment, living in the world but not of the world."
