जल परमानै माछली, कुल परमानै शुद्धि I जाको जैसा गुरू मिला, ताको तैसी बुद्धि II
"Kabir says, just like the quantity of water in the lake decides whether it's going to have small fish or big fish, the good or bad qualities in a person are the reflection of the righteous or the immoral inclinations of the elders in his family. Similarly the attitude and aspirations of a disciple are the direct reflection of his Guru's teachings."
