माया का सुख चार दिन, कँह तूँ गहे गँवार I
सपने पायो राज धन, जात न लागे बार II
We humans have a tendency to cling onto everything — material things, relations, emotions, memories or even people. “Letting go” seems to be the toughest part of life. This attachment or moh affects everybody and the whole world is engulfed by mundane values and attachment to them. Ignorance creates a web of Maya (illusion) that we believe to be real and try to seek happiness from the false strands of things. Trapped in a web of emotions, things, persons, we live in a world which is temporary and gives only momentary happiness. What is Maya except a befooling magic trick? Like a passing shadow of a summer cloud; a momentary flooding after a tropical rain.
Moh implies attachment to a certain worldly desire, and ‘Maya’ is the illusion or the deceptive nature of the world. Together, ‘Moh Maya’ is about the deceptive nature of the world. A world that is constantly trying to blur our vision from the ultimate truth and reality, and a world that keeps pulling us into the well of more desires.
"Kabir says, caught in the whirlwind of 'Maya', people forget that these pleasures can only give them temporary satisfaction. Once the illusion of one feat is achieved, the mind immediately wanders to another, which results in an endless loop that is consuming humans since time immemorial."
