मोटी माया सब तजैं, झीनी तजी न जाय I
पीर पैगंबर औलिया, झीनी सबको खाय II

"Maya comes in two forms
स्थूल माया or Gross Maya and सूक्ष्म माया or Subtle Maya.
Gross Maya implies Land, wealth, property and possessions, etc.
Subtle Maya implies egoism - pride and ego of honor, position, prestige, success, beauty etc.
It is not hard to renounce the Gross Maya. But to overcome Subtle - minute unpretentious Maya - that is, egoism is the toughest.
Even the Peers-Prophets, enlightened persons of wisdom and Rishi-Munis could not escape from the clutches of this Subtle Maya. The celestial beauty Menaka successfully lured one of the most venerated sages Vishvamitra's lust and mesmerised him by her beauty.
There is no one in the world who does not develop ego - does not become proud after getting some authority, position, prestige, and honor. There are people with subtle pride or ego in their knowledge, renunciation, abstinence, and austerity.
Some are proud of their Wisdom and some are proud of their Bhakti - their devotion. Some people are even proud of their humility - of their soft nature.
Kabir says, only the one who has recognized and renounced the Subtle Maya can walk on the path of Bhakti unhindered - and attain liberation."
