Life once asked death "why do people love me and fear you?" Death replied "Because you are a beautiful lie, and I am the harsh truth." Lies can be far more comforting to accept for some. There is much truth to the saying "ignorance is bliss" There is a feeling of security and happiness in not accepting things for how they really, truly are, for the truth can hurt. The greatest wonder of the world is that though death is the ultimate reality and it spares no one, everyone supposes that it's about others not about him. Under Maya's influence the illusioned soul identifies with the temporary body and everything connected to it. Under the sense of this false identity it aspires to control and enjoy matter serving lust, greed and anger and in doing so only falls deeper into illusion. The fatal attraction that makes the illusioned soul mistakenly identify with the temporary body is so overwhelming that man prefers ignorance as bliss than accepting the truth that no matter how much he may care, he can't do anything about the gradual yet unstoppable withering of his body as time goes by.
