A self-realized soul is not illusioned by the false identification of the body with his true self. Therefore he is not joyful in achieving something nor does he lament in losing anything which is related to his body. We have all heard it, And we know it, but realizing it is another thing. The main quality of a self-realized person is that he has realized that he is not the body but he is the spirit soul within the body. That is Self Realisation. The chief propensities of animal life are eating, sleeping, mating and defending. We too if confine ourselves within the boundaries of the same eating, sleeping, mating and defending then we are no more than two-legged animals. The purpose of this rare human birth is spiritual enhancement and not merely improving the standard of eating, sleeping, mating and defending. We humans have the ability to question the purpose of our existence and also to discover the answers. To become conscious of this ability is possible only when we seek company of Sant, who have given up all thoughts of what is transient or unreal and identified themselves totally with the Supreme Reality. By steady and ceaseless contemplation on the fact that ‘I am that’, they attain to a state of perfect peace and bliss. The noble ones control the external attractions by subduing their senses. Thus, their mind becomes peaceful, which is conducive to beholding the inner divinity in themselves.
"Kabir says, in the uncertain life where the present breath may be our last, a day gone without Sant Darshan is an unpardonable loss. Intense devotion to one's Guru and faithful adherence to his teachings are the most essential qualifications of true discipleship, else there is no end to the endless wanderings going on since time immemorial."
