कबीर तन पंषो भया, जहाँ मन वहीं उडि जाइ I
जो जैसी संगति करै, सो तैसे फल खाइ II

Depending on the company we keep, our mind acquires the same color. Gradually it penetrates in the mind, becomes stubborn and deep with time. Our mind cannot escape it.
Just as a rain drop which does not have any impurity of its own, but when it comes in contact with the ground or dirt, it becomes contaminated. Also, just as a piece of paper does not have any smell of its own, but when the same paper is used to wrap fish or fragrant flowers, gets the smell of the object it is associated with. Similarly, one’s mind is affected by the association of qualities it keeps.
On the other hand even the lowly trees in the vicinity of Sandalwood tree become fragrant. Similarly One must seek the company of the divine-oriented, virtuous and Wise people, for in their contact, one gets spiritually uplifted, transformed or changed from within.

"Kabir says, it is said that birds of a feather flock together. It means that the company you keep reflects your personality. A wise person surrounds himself with other wise people. If you hang out with trash, you will be perceived as trash. In other words ‘you’re only as good as the company you keep’."
