"Kabir says, the symbols of external appearances such as putting sacred marks on forehead, wearing necklace of beads are of no use in devotion. The devotion is the slender silken thread of pure love that binds the heart of the devotee to the lotus-feet of the Lord. All these external body robes, symbols, and other paraphernalia are nothing but a pompous show of false ego-sense or stubborn mind. The true devotion is but a journey within."
